After we use logo maker to create a logo, we will save it in our phones. However, when we want to receive a digital file, there are several different formats of logos. Why there are so many file formats? Which file format should I choose? And in what occasions do different file formats apply? Here are some common file formats: PDF, EPS, SVG, PNG, JPG. I will illustrate them in detail.
1.PDF—-Portable Document Format
The Portable Document Format (PDF) is a file format developed by Adobe. Based on the PostScript (PS) language, each PDF file encapsulates a complete description of a fixed-layout flat document, including the text, fonts, vector graphics, raster images and other information needed to display it.
It is suitable for print materials such as business cards, posters and so on. It also suits for stickers, labels and clothing.
2.EPS—- Encapsulated PostScript
EPS is one of the most powerful image file formats in the current system. It can output vector or bitmap with accurate color on any operation platform and high-resolution output device. It is the favorite image file format used by graphic artists who do color separation.
It usually applies to print materials such as business cards, posters, brochures and so on. It also suits for stickers, labels and clothing.
3.SVG—- Scalable Vector Graphics
SVG is a graphics format based on extensible markup language (XML) for describing two-dimensional vector graphics. SVG image files are readable and easy to change and edit.
This kind of logo can be applied to the website.
4.PNG—- Portable Network Graphics
PNG is a lossless compression bitmap graphics format. The development goal of PNG is to improve and replace GIF as a suitable format for network transmission without a patent license, so it is widely used in the Internet and other aspects.
It is suitable for websites and blogs, social media profile and cover photos and images such as adding it to watermark.
5.JPG—- Joint Photographic Group
JPG is a commonly used method of lossy compression for digital images, particularly for those images produced by digital photography. The degree of compression can be adjusted, allowing a selectable tradeoff between storage size and image quality.
It can be applied to store images (colored and bright ones) and share images on the Internet.
In our logo maker, we have two common file formats: JPG and PNG. Logos in JPG format are much smaller than PNG, so it is convenient to save as a picture and send to others. It is suitable for a YouTube and ins icon. In PNG format, the background is transparent and since PNG is lossless, it is more appropriate to save the image to be edited. It can not only be your ins icon, but also can be printed on your business cards and posters. Thus, it can be seen that logos in PNG format can be wildly used anywhere. Both formats have their advantages, just choose what you need!
